Scorpion’s Sting

SCORPION'S STING

The scorpion pepper is a pepper is indigenous to Trinidad and Tobago. It is a pepper that is incredibly hot being 500,000 SHU – 1,500,000 SCH (SHU stands for Scoville Heat Units and is the measurement for the potency of spicy food). In this project, I use aspects from the pepper and the animal to create the look of the product. The heat of the pepper I likened to the pain of a scorpion’s sting. The colour choices were based on a few aspects of either the pepper, pepper sauce or the animal. A few examples are the background colour which resembles the desert environment scorpions live in and the text examples which mimic the colour of the pepper along with giving the image of fire. The design for the product includes a box design for the larger size containers, labels for the large and small sizes and tags that hang from the bottle attached by a cord.

The concept that I focused on throughout the entire progress is making a product that is completely recyclable or reusable. The containers are made of glass, which is reusable, with cork covers. The labels and tags, attached by a rope that is made from jute twine, are made from paper. Finally, even the adhesive is starch-based.
