I, Predator DVD Case

I, PREDATOR COVER

This project required me to pick a documentary and design a cover for it. The catch was that it needed to look like it belonged in the Criterion Collection. I chose a 2011 documentary called I, Predator, specifically the one about lions. I love animals and I was drawn to this documentary because of how it explains the lifestyles of these predators. My research encompassed watching the documentary a few more times and looking at other DVDs in the Criterion. This project lent itself well to various art styles due to the vastness of the Criterion Collection. In this piece, I chose to focus on the eyes of a female lion. The documentary mainly focused on how lions hunt and, as they hunt mostly at night, their powerful eyes are very important to that. Furthermore, I focused on the lioness because the lionesses of the pride are the main breadwinners (or meatwinners). The cover image for this project started in Adobe Photoshop but, in order to get the aesthetic I wanted an eventually switched to Adobe Illustrator. The DVD cover is 15 in x 9 in (38 cm x 23 cm).
