DC DESIGN DUEL 2019
The Problem Space
The DC Design Duel is a competition hosted by Imge Design Studio. For this competition, I received a pop culture icon which we had to design a logo, landing page and merchandise as if they would be running in the 2020 presidential election. In my case, the pop culture icon I received was Princess Leia. This campaign design needs to inform voters about Princess Leia’s candidacy and convince them to donate to her campaign and, eventually, go out and vote for her.
The Target Audience
The target audience for this project is young people – specifically college students and young adults. Young people are an important demographic in any election and to win it is important that you get their support.
The Solution
The solution is threefold. The campaign will need a logo that is easily identifiable but professional. It will need a landing page for the supporters to find out more about the candidate and donate to the campaign. Thirdly, they will need merchandise that will help to keep the candidate at the forefront of the voters’ minds. The colour scheme for the project is based around the colours of the American flag. The logo had a horizontal and vertical version that comes in black and white variants. The landing page was designed for desktop, laptop, tablet and phone screens. The merchandise that the logo was made to be displayed on was a shirt, cap, stickers and a water bottle.
