BREAKABLE SHAPES

‘Breakable Shapes’ gets its name from how it began. Firstly I randomly chose a characteristic and randomly chose an element of art; those being ‘breakable’ and ‘shape’ respectively, and I was tasked with making an animation out of them. For this project, I decided to go with a literal approach. Shapes appeared on the screen and took form only to be broken apart and then disappear from view. However, with each successive GIF, I played with the idea of what shape is. Starting with geometric shapes and then moving to shapes that were just enclosed but nondescript objects. What I like most about the piece was how I chose what form they would take and that was I wanted them to look like things that people would not want to be broken and so I chose technology such as phones and flash drives. The GIFs were made 400 px wide by 200 px long.
